I've been assuming it was just you&me. I don't like doing this trope on my phone, because there's too much fiddly stuff when rewriting legit examples to become objective. Deleting ZCE is the best I can do. But that means I haven't done any in at least a week. I can't really predict when I will have time/mood to wick clean on my laptop.

Correct:

Examples to crosswick back onto the HELL IS page.

  • Homestuck:
    • Gamzee Makara creates this effect with people in a rather dramatic way. Spoiler-tagged for your surprise: Post-flipout, he's murdering people left and right, committing petty evils, and generally scaring the shit out of Karkat.
  • The Simpsons has Radioactive Man who gained his super powers in 1952 and hasn't altered his technological or cultural sensibilities since. On his last adventure before being reunited with his long-lost parents, in 1996, RM ventures out into the city on a dark and stormy night, to stop villains. After winning a fight with another villain in an alley, RM is starting to round a street corner when he hears an ominous "DOOM, DOOM, DOOM!" approaching the intersection. RM is frightened by the sound, and wonders if Dr. Crab "has some weird, fiendish new weapon." But just as he is preparing for a possible fight to the death, the sinister sound is revealed as nothing more than a ghetto blaster pumping out hip-hop beats as it is carried by a Vanilla Ice-like teenager. (RM gives him a stern lecture about staying out past curfew.)

How far is the wick-checking along? Also, I assume that there won't be a rename?

Always keep in mind that on top of everything else, this trope is pretty much YMMV.

No. The crowner states that this definition has been changed to objective elements, not a subjective Audience Reaction.

What's up with this trope? Still in repair?

Yep. The grunt work needs doing. I stopped and will have to recheck all the pages by now.

I don't mind this trope anymore than Most Wonderful Sound or Most Annoying Sound, I just wish it had a more descriptive name.

~Mullon, I don't understand what you mean. This trope is about the psychological effect of a repeated noise to the character(s) in the story. Those tropes are Audience Reactions.

I've only sen it used as an audience reaction, which is fine to me.

Wick check says that this is still on over 100 YMMV pages. We need those entries deleted.

Maybe move to Short Term projects since that's all there is left to do?

I'm afraid that it will simply be forgotten there.

[up][up][up][up][up] The name of this trope always bothered me. Even after learning it, my brain always jumps to reading it as [What the] hell is that noise? Which, apparently, is the first line of the description. But it's actually about a specific kind of sound, of which I'm honestly not exactly sure.
